Looks Can Be Deceiving

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. I Samuel 1:13 [KJV]

When we read about Hannah, in the beginning, she has been treated poorly by her husband and the other wife because she has been barren. When she took her problem to God during their trip to the temple, Eli thought that she was drunk and being disrespectful. He was ready to kick her out of the temple. However, Hannah was praying from her heart to God. Crying out in her time of persecution. She was having a very private and intense session with God. He was listening to every word that she was saying. He was in the midst with her at that moment. God was giving Hannah His Undivided and Divine Attention.

In our lives, we are sometimes concerned with how things look to others. In times of deep turmoil, we can get to the place where Hannah was. We can get closer to God than ever before and truly poor out our heart to Him. When we are in those moments in our lives, we forget about everything around us and we get completely in tune with God, who He is and how much He loves us. We don't worry about perceptions. We then become God's instrument to do work. When we are in a place that God can use us, we can accomplish things that seemed impossible before. Let's forget about how it looks to others and let's get in tune with God. He is the only one that matters.

Don't worry about outside judgment,

Martin
