How to see these times

Friends,

When the time comes for the Lord to bring judgment against the world, everyone will be affected ... even the Believers. He will pour out His wrath over the entire earth, and no one will be exempt from its effects.

Revelation 16:1 [NKJV]
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels,
“Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”

All will interpret the events that represent God's wrath. Some will interpret them through the eyes of ignorance, unable to fathom what good is being done. Others will interpret these events through eyes filled with rage, deception and envy. They will accuse God of being less than perfect.

We, who are followers of Christ, have His promise as a guide. We can see what is happening through the filter of Jesus' faithfulness, justice and wisdom. Fear will not rule our hearts. Courage, Love and Joy will reign, even in the darkest of days.

The trumpet sounds

Friends,

In the book of Proverbs, we see the many characteristics of Christ Jesus. And as we are to imitate Him ... to be holy as He is holy ... we see the admonitions that our good and perfect Father has for us.

Proverbs 31:8-9 [NKJV]
Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

This is a command, brothers and sisters. We are to pray for those who cannot - and will not - pray. We are to intercede. We are to truthfully discern what is contrary to God's will, and describe it accurately as sin.

This is not for the faint of heart. It is a battle, meant only for the courageous.

He will not let go

Friends,

We have all seen relationships fall apart. At times, we're dumbfounded, because the relationship seemed rock-solid - a godly man and a godly woman, seemingly devoted to one another, enduring through hardships. But even in those circumstances, we may be disappointed. But the LORD does not disappoint.

Isaiah 46:4 [NKJV]
Even to your old age, I am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

It is easy to be carried away by the emotions of a moment. Our challenge, brothers and sisters, is to remain focused, to purposefully remember that our God is faithful and everlasting. And His love and faithfulness is never-ending.

Steady on

Friends,

We can stand strong in the face of attack, for we can cry out to the victorious LORD of Hosts.

Psalm 22:11 [NKJV]
Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.

Truly, there is no one else that can fight for us. Our worldly "friends" will abandon us when we are persecuted for believing on Christ. We already see how governments will be an instrument of affliction. And our own courage simply cannot outlast the relentless assault of doubt, envy, and fear.

But the LORD has won greater battles. He will come through and bring us through. Stay faithful, brothers and sisters. Stay strong.

His own house first

Friends,

The day is coming. It is a day when the the Lord will judge. Be assured ... Every man is subject to His perfect justice.

Ecclesiastes 3:17 [NKJV]
I said in my heart,
“God shall judge the righteous and the wicked,
For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

Notice a subtlety here. The righteous are listed first. The LORD will judge all men, but He starts with His own people first. He holds us all to the same standard of holiness, and therefore cannot exempt the believers from justice.

Of course, the believer's sins are judged, and the sentence has been carried out by Christ. But that does not give us license to ignore the laws of God. So, we must live lives of holiness, proving our love of Jesus.

The root of peace

Friends,

The sons of God have been given a unique gift. We have a blessed assurance that ...

  • Our God is sovereign over all things
  • Our God is truly good
  • Therefore, what is happening around is ultimately and truly good.
This can be hard to see when circumstances are hard, when body and soul is suffering. But is an amazing state of grace ...
Mark 4:37-38a [NKJV]
And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.

Christ Jesus lived the life of complete submission to the Father's will. He had no doubts ... none whatsoever ... that LORD God Almighty is in complete control and is perfectly good. Therefore, even though His physical life seemed in jeopardy, Jesus was at peace, knowing that what was happening would be good.

For you and I to live this way is a tremendous challenge. It cannot be done outside of the grace and power of Christ. Seek that power, friends, and live a life of perfect peace.

Where does your satisfaction come from?

Friends,

The world seeks to satisfy us. It is the enemy's most effective weapon. For when we are discontent with what the LORD has provided, we chase after the things of the flesh. And when we chase after the things of the flesh, we are no longer pursuing Christ, we are no longer seeking the Kingdom of God and its righteousness.

Proverbs 27:7 [NKJV]
A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb,
But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

The honeycomb represents the temporary pleasures of sin. It is fleeting, and it always leaves you wanting more.

When we are satisfied with what God has provided, those temporary pleasures do not tempt us ... indeed we look at them with contempt. But when we despise the life that Almighty God has chosen for us, then even the most horrendous sin seems wonderful and enticing.

Satisfaction and contentment are choices that we make. We are no longer in bondage to lust. We are free to love holiness, to love the law, and the be completely satisfied with the life of Christ.

Depend wisely

Friends,

When we depend on anything or anyone besides God, it will invariably fail us. We will seek help from those gods, but they cannot do anything for us.

Lamentations 1:19 (NKJV)

I called for my lovers,
But they deceived me;
My priests and my elders
Breathed their last in the city,
While they sought food
To restore their life.

The Lord will remove these from us, so that we will ... finally ... turn back to Him.

Jose

The blessings

Friends,

What the LORD has given to you, is yours.
What the LORD has not given to you, is not.

This seems so simple, so basic. Yet, we know that ignoring this fundamental principle has resulted in so much pain, so much destruction and so much strife. So let us be reminded:

Exodus 20:17 [NKJV]
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.

To covet is to to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others. Notice that desire, in and of itself, is not a sin. But when desire is unrestrained by the acknowledge that we have no right to the object of our desire, it is clearly forbidden.

Has the LORD called another to a ministry you had your set upon?
Has God blessed another with wealth while you toil for what seems like a pittance?
Has your neighbor found the godly husband you have been dreaming of and praying for?

Do not covet these things. Recognize the blessing you have.

Coming glory

Friends,

What we encounter here is not a preview. This world is filled with hate and rage that is intentionally directed at Christ and His followers. We see more and more evidence of what has been the case since the moment the enemy stood ready to devour the Child of God (Rev 12:4).

Jesus knew that we might question the point of all this suffering and persecution. And, because He is a wise leader, He answers this fundamental question ...

Matthew 19:27-28 [NKJV]
Then Peter answered and said to Him, See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?
So Jesus said to them, Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

What we encounter in this world will not last. It is passing. It is difficult, painful, and frustrating. But it is not eternal.

Our place, seated in the throne of Christ, is eternal. It has no end. And it is glorious.

In the company of Christ

Friends,

Things go wrong in every man's life. But where do you turn? Do you retreat to the comfortable confines of the natural man? Or do you have the courage to go the family of Christ?

Proverbs 27:10 [NKJV]
Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend,
Nor go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity;
Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.

The family of Christ, in its current form, is yet being perfected. But it is headed by the Perfect Man.

The Lord Jesus has never erred in judgment, has only loved completely, and has never failed to comfort, strengthen and encourage. And if we place ourselves in the company of believers, then the love that Christ delivers is never far away.

Be grounded in love

Friends,

The prayers of the brethren are timeless. The stretch into the future, and echo through the past.

Ephesians 3:17 [NKJV]
... that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

In his letter to the church at Ephesus, the apostle Paul - our brother in Christ - declares his prayer that our lives, our walk and our every act grow out of the love of Christ. He prayed for the church nearly 2,000 years ago. And his prayer is being answered still today.

Ministry's Source

Friends,

We have several friends who minister in what one might call an official capacity to the Body of believers. Over time, each has wrestled with the big questions of ministry... Is the ministry effective? Am I doing the best I can?

But these are not the most important questions. The most critical issue every believer must confront is this:
Am I doing what God wants me to do?

Ephesians 3:6b-7 [NKJV] ... emphasis added
His promise in Christ through the gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

No ministry belongs to man. All belong to the LORD. Whether the work is done under the auspices of a recognized organization - like a church or a mission - or not, the work is assigned according to the will of God.

Every believer must ... daily ... pray that the LORD direct his steps (He promises to do so) in the path the advances the Kingdom of God. Then we will recognize that His will is being done.

Don't drift away

Friends,

I have noticed in my life that it's easy to lose sight of God's word.
Family issues.
Work issues.
Taking care of the home.

They creep in and steal time from the Word. "Busyness" is one of the chief tools of the enemy, and we must actively guard against its impact.

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.
Hebrews 2:1 [NKJV]

We have heard the Gospel. We can quote the promises of salvation. But we must ... must ... heed them. Obey them. Attend to them.

Only then are securely moored to Almighty King of kings!

Friends,There is a knowledge that we cannot live without. It is beyond memorization and the ability to accurately quote the Scriptures.

Proverbs 23:23 (NKJV)

Put your faith in a Faithful Man

Friends,

We live in an age of self-promotion, don't we? It is a gross understatement to say that self-aggrandizement is encouraged. An entire industry has formed around man's desire to talk about himself. Politicians & celebrities have reached the pinnacles of their professions with no accomplishments except for the ability to take credit for the work of others. It's nothing new.

Proverbs 20:6 [NKJV]
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness,
But who can find a faithful man?

Indeed.
Are there no faithful men?

There is one. We have found Him, for He promises to reveal Himself to those who truly seek Him. Put your faith in Him.

Prepare for the harvest

Friends,

The world will never give you permission to pursue righteousness. Among the enemy's greatest desires is to make following Christ hard ... really hard. What is "easy" is to focus on the challenges and obstacles ... and then give them the power to stop us from seeking the Kingdom of God, from digging into His Word, and from joining forces with fellow believers int the fight against evil.

Proverbs 20:4 [NKJV]
The lazy man will not plow because of winter;
He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

The LORD admonishes His people - you and me - to prepare for the harvest by persevering in adversity. Let no act of the enemy deny you the opportunity to be in God's word. Overcome the flesh's desire for the easy path.

There will come a time when we reap the rewards of those actions. That will be a time of great joy and abundance. A time of unchallenged intimacy with Christ the King.

Deal wisely

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.
Matthew 10:15-17 (NKJV)

It is now politically incorrect to even affirm and profess your faith in the modern world media. You make a lot uncomfortable and come across as hostile. You must remember that you are the salt of the world, you are the light of the world, created with a specific purpose for influence. We can not be overcome or dominated by the environment we are supposed to influence and be agents of change for.

7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,” 8 and “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
1 Peter 2:7-9 (NKJV)

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Let's face it. we all come and go through seasons of uncertainty, weakness and fear. The arms of flesh and all we own don't match up to the challenge and seasons we are faced with. Some contemplate all sort of destructive options, but to them that believe, there is assurance, there is a promise, there is a righteous right hand to help and uphold in our downtime season.

Take fear out, neither give place to dismay, but receive strength, help and a sure 'right hand' for support through your seasons. He will never fail or forsake you.

Let us each do a work

Friends,

Is predictability the hallmark of your gatherings? Do the same people contribute in all of the important ways?

1 Corinthians 14:26 [NKJV]
How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

The Lord has gifted His people in many ways. And all are called ... even commanded ... to use and develop those gifts. So, when the Spirit calls you to bring forth a word, bring it forth. When you are lead to praise Him, then praise Him. Do not leave the whole burden of the work of the Kingdom to a weary few.

Stay Awake

...but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
Matthew 13:25 (NKJV)

The common adversary isn't dumb and naive about his ultimate agenda of stealing, killing and destroying. He chooses our most vulnerable moments, when our strength is at an all time low, when we are at our weakest. The adversary strategy is relentless, gradual and consistent. Hence we must never grow weary or go it alone because human strength is no match for this adversary but the power of the Holy Spirit that is in us.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)

Let us be circumspect, cautious and be vigilant and never give away to sleep like others do. Our environment must not define us, but rather we must define our world according to Kingdom principles. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober (1 Thessalonians 5:6).

Search for wisdom, find wisdom, and don't ignore it

Friends,

The Lord seeks to reveal Himself to us everyday. This is one of the amazing gifts of salvation, for the Almighty God of all creation has no obligation to teach a mere mortal about Himself. But it is His desire that we know Him. Of course, there are those for whom this gift is meaningless. There are those who mock the very Word of God. We see them, and some even celebrate them. It is remarkable is that those who mock God's word claim to be the most sophisticated of men, for they have sought education and rationality...

Proverbs 14:6 [NKJV]
A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it,
But knowledge is easy to him who understands.

Christ promised us His spirit of wisdom and discernment. And that is why faith and belief come easily. That is why when life's circumstances challenge our faith and belief, we cry out and He answers. We do not mock the wisdom that the LORD has revealed to us, for we know that it is the truth. We accept it and the joy that it brings.

The most powerful legacy

Friends,

Sin has devastated the world. What was once glorious, peaceful and filled with integrity, is now ripped apart by war, strife, deceit and death. Each of us bears the scars of the result of Adam's disobedience. And each of us bears the scars of our own sin and suffering. Fortunately, the Lord God did not leave His creation in that state.

Romans 5:5 [NKJV]
But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

Because we come from the line of Adam, every man has followed in his flawed footsteps. That is quite a powerful legacy.

But the legacy of Christ is greater than all of the legacies of all the men that have come before us. His work has justified His followers, and we bear the weight and wages of sin no more.

Life-Giving Spirit

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.”The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:42-45 (NKJV)

Many grapple and are puzzled with the resurrection idea. It is simple. When a grain is sown/buried in the ground, it is forgotten, but soon a new plant emerges, a tree comes forth and multiple fruits with seed of its kind comes forth too. That the Lord Jesus Christ died and rose again is the greatest, best, and incomparable hope package in this life and the life to come. It confirms that death isn't the end of the story, neither is it the end of discussion. As many as may be experiencing dormancy, death even in the living physical body, potentials, careers, emotions, health, etc, the Life-giving spirit that's embedded inside of every child of God remains available.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

Access to the embedded Life-giving spirit and willingness to access it remains the critical issue for all mortal beings. Experience His resurrection power that is made available by the price paid for in FULL by Jesus Christ.

Obedience is the only response

Friends,

The commandments of God are clear and unambiguous. Man is forever seeking a way to negotiate them, interpret them, and weaken them. But they are the word of God, and they shall stand forever. When faced with this unrelenting fact, the only logical response to obey:

Exodus 19:7-8
So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the LORD commanded him. Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD. [NKJV]

The Israelite people were no different than you and I. They were rebellious, argumentative and inconsistent. And yet, when confronted with the obvious truth of God's power and authority, they humbled themselves and declared their intent to obey.

Everyday, brothers and sisters, we are faced with the truth of Almighty God's power and just authority. Rebellion does not change that. Arguments, negotiations and interpretations do not change that. There is but one response.

Let us humble ourselves and obey the LORD.

A full reward: Peace

Friends,

There can be no doubt. We are under attack. The world mocks Christianity. Our flesh resists the ways of Jesus. And the enemy seeks to kill, steal and destroy every blessing that comes from the hand of God.

The only place of true refuge and peace is in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Ruth 2:12
The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.

Jehovah has made a covenant with His people - us. He will fulfill that covenant, for He is faithful like no other. When we go to Him and take refuge under His wings, we will be satisfied.

Most? or Faithful

Friends,

Let's face it ... humble-ness is not man's greatest strength. The world idolizes those who excel at bringing attention to themselves. Too many are famous simply because they are famous.

Proverbs 20:6 [NKJV]
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness,
But who can find a faithful man?

It is easy to find someone who makes sure that all have heard about his most useful qualities. Go to the house of government. Turn on the television. You will see them everywhere.
You may have even seen one in the mirror this morning.

But seek a faithful man, and you will search long and hard before encountering one. Indeed, there is but One who is truly faithful. We are most wise when we put our faith in Him.

After vision

Friends,

Our prayers are often full of requests, and rightly so. The Lord knows the desires of our heart, and expects us to bring those desires to Him. But that is not the end of the story ...

Matthew 20:32-34 [NKJV]
So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, What do you want Me to do for you?
They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

Notice that Christ does indeed ask what these men want from Him, and they are not bashful or modest in their request. They are blind, and they desire sight. Jesus, in His boundless compassion, touches them and delivers them from blindness.

We were blind. He touched us. And now we see.

But do we, as these men did, follow Jesus?

Power within

6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NKJV)

God of all creation made everyone for a specific purpose and mission. Whether the creature identifies and fulfills that mission and purpose is another thing. One thing stands for sure though, the gifts and 'ability to do' is embedded inside each and everyone of us. Sometimes, it will take an uncomfortable situation or condition to shake things up, or some stirring, nudging, jolting, and trials, etc. When faced with a trying or difficult situation, we respond in an uncommon way. That uncommon way and ability have always been inside of us.

We are given the spirit of power and love plus a disciplined mind. Nothing must ever intimidate the God in us, because He that is in us created everything.

Wait on Him

29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31 (NKJV)

To be in a weak state is not something to despise and dislike after all. Though you are willing yet you fall short and feel incapable. While you take care of what needs to be done, wait on the Lord our Maker who gives power to the weak and strength to the feeble. Connect with the source of real strength. The strength that never dissipates or wear out. It is amazing that the scripture says that the youths, i.e. they that are full of vigor and vitality will lose their fervor, zeal and enthusiasm. But they that wait upon Him shall renew, refresh and obtain what is necessary to keep going strong.

Unity to succeed

8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
1 Peter 3:8-9 (NKJV)

We must not be naive about the end game of our common adversary. A relentless campaign to change mindsets of a generation, one person at a time. They bombard our individual minds and our environments and spheres of influence to alter how we respond and interpret God's truth and how we are guided by them in the world. The truth cannot and must not be compromised. We must be our brothers keeper. We need each other to succeed and establish God's kingdom here on earth.

10 For “He who would love life And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
1 Peter 3:10-12 (NKJV)

Our mission is aligned with bringing more into God's kingdom. Our pursuit of love, peace and righteousness must be relentless. For this reason He came and the goal is clear, we must not deviate from it.

Who we are is what we receive

Friends,

Life, in all is glory and misery, happens to all people. We all experience sickness, health, joy, grief, loss and gain. The difference is in how we experience these events. The difference is based on our position before God.

Proverbs 3:3 [NKJV]
The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked,
But He blesses the home of the just.

It seems self-evident that we ought not to require a reason to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. But there are days, aren't there? Given that no man is perfect, it follows that no man loves perfectly ... and that every man will - at times - need to search for a reason to love his brother.

Here is your reason:

1 John 4:11
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.[NKJV]

Christ Jesus died for you and me before we acknowledged Him as Lord, Savior and Redeemer. He did so well before we had the opportunity to show Him our love through our obedience. We no longer need any proof of His love. It is there at Calvary.

As He has proven His love for you and me, let us demonstrate our love for each other. By dying to ourselves daily. By serving others ahead of ourselves. By loving the least of these.

Not Business as usual

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:3-6 (NKJV)

We have hear and read the phrase description of the the day of the Lord. Yes the scripture makes it so clear that the day of the Lord will be like a thief in the night. The thief is not usually expected. The uninsured is overtaken and caught unawares when an accident occurs. For every believer, this must never be the case.

7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:7-10 (NKJV)

We must never sleep like the world, but we must remain vigilant in our daily walk and thoughts lest we get caught unawares like a thief in the night. Our appointment and portion isn't for wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Be Sober and vigilant and ...

Inside ... then Outside

Friends,

It is so easy to make a good show of Christianity. But that is not what God commands or desires. The Lord is after your heart. That is what He pursues.

Proverbs 6:21 [NKJV]
Bind them continually upon your heart;
Tie them around your neck.

The Word of God must reside ... must live ... in the heart. Then and only then will the outward appearance reflect the true character of the Lord.

Strength in Fellowship

17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
Daniel 2:17-19 (NKJV)

The solution to the world's problem doesn't lie in one ideology, theory or practice. It lies in the ability of mere mortal men to be humble enough to acknowledge their vulnerability and need to seek a Higher being who has answers to our gridlock and challenges. Death came staring Daniel in the face but he looked up to the real source and solutions to the challenges of his day.

Daniel demonstrated the power and efficacy of fellowship with the saints. They agreed and sought the Lord for a solution and the Lord answered their prayers. Are there challenges in your day and life? Never underestimate the power of the the brethren coming together on a specific issue.

Is this any way to choose a leader?

Friends,

Whether we like it or not, our leaders are a reflection of ourselves. If we choose to ignore the laws of God, then our leaders will defy them as well. If our desires are for material wealth and power, then we will follow those men whose ambitions are for material wealth and power.

Isaiah 3:6 [NKJV]
When a man takes hold of his brother
In the house of his father, saying,
"You have clothing;
You be our ruler,
And let these ruins be under your power,"

Brothers and sisters, let us follow only those who follow Christ. Let us pursue righteousness, so that we will seek out the men who seek righteousness to be our leaders.

Its Time

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:2-4 (KJV)

With the revelation of the son of man comes the manifestation. The seed is sown in corruption and it goes through transformation with the vine coming forth as the source and the branches taking shape in the space of time. Out of the branches comes the manifestation and appearance of the fruits. Many good to the eyes and for edification of the body.

Once we have been revealed by the Lord our Maker, it is time for manifestation, the display of good works and administration of His Kingdom here on earth. In your walk and ways, in your vocation, in your plans, in your home, in all ways, you must manifest to the glory of God.

Put them away

Friends,

When the LORD returns in glory, all of the unbelievers will work diligently to correct their mistakes. They will scramble for cover. It is the same impulse that drives a teenage boy to hide his computer screen when his mother walks into the room. It is the same impulse that causes a wayward spouse to plead for forgiveness ... after they've been caught in the act.

Isaiah 2:20-21 [NKJV]
In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles and bats,
To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.

In the day of Christ's return, every man will see that he is a sinner - unworthy of being in the presence of pure holiness. But those that have truly recognized this fact will have already repented of this idolatry. They will not have waited until their faith has become sight. For that day will be too late for faith.

Brothers and sisters, if you are still harboring idols in your heart - the idols of work, accomplishment, political success, the perfect family - then put them away today. Do not wait. Do not delay. We are in the last days. The day of repentance is at hand!

The mission of Christ

Friends,

We rejoice in the new day that the LORD has made. We do so because He commands it, and because it is an opportunity for us to glorify our God in so many ways. Yet, there are disappointments, hurts and slip-ups. Our Father knows this, understands this, and is there to respond ... perfectly.

Isaiah 61:1 [NKJV]
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,
Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

This is the mission of Christ. He quotes this very prophecy when declaring His presence to the Israelites. And daily He reminds you and me that we are no longer in bondage to bitterness, unforgiveness, deception, and sadness. We have been set free.

Strength flows from Belief

Friends,

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus reminds us that our love for Him will result in hatred towards us. The world hates Jesus ... watch the ridicule, the charges of intolerance, and the persecution ... and therefore hates the Lord's followers. And it will inevitably strike close to home.

John 7:5
For even His brothers did not believe in Him. [NKJV]

We can find strength and comfort in the knowledge that Jesus experienced this Himself. He was tested and tempted in every manner, and the enemy seeks to hurt the Lord at every opportunity, and in every era.

Be strengthened in this. Be confident that Christ never forsakes His people, and that we will be victorious over all.

Settled

27 For the LORD of hosts has purposed, And who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out, And who will turn it back?”
Isaiah 14:27 (NKJV)

As we make the relentless pursuit of righteousness our goal and agenda for 2012, we must walk and operate in the assurance of God's word. His will in our life shall be done for when Heaven invades our space, no power comes between. It will be more of Him and less of others.

God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.
Psalm 62:11 (NKJV)

In an era of multiple and numerous streams of report, whose report will we believe? God has spoken. It is settled.

Be united in Christ

Friends,

One of the most common tactics of warfare is to to "divide and conquer". Christ Jesus warned against allowing this tactic to gain traction in the body of believers, and we see its devastating effect on families everyday.

We enable our enemy when we look at each other and see the differences, rather than seeking out what unifies us.

Proverbs 22:2 [NKJV]
The rich and the poor have this in common,
The LORD is the maker of them all.

Brothers and sisters, do not allow the culture, the politicians, or the preachers to sow strife and divisiveness among us. Seek out the evidence that we share a Father in Heaven who has adopted us, brought us into His Kingdom, and paid the ultimate price for our redemption. Treasure that unity in Jesus.

Hearing the secrets of Heaven

Friends,

Over and over, we see people celebrated and honored, only to learn that they are weak, perverted and immoral. Celebrities are credited with the most noble of motives, even though their actions betray their intentions as self-serving and selfish.

It's easy to get caught up in their celebrity and covet it. It's tempting to compromise our beliefs in order to curry favor with the popular way of thinking.

Do not envy the oppressor,
And choose none of his ways;
For the perverse person is an abomination to the LORD,
But His secret counsel is with the upright.
Proverbs 3:31-32 [NKJV]

Throughout scripture, our Heavenly Father describes His hatred of those who oppress the poor, the widow and the orphan. In short, He reserves great anger for those who use their strength to abuse those who are weaker. Brothers and sisters, do not envy the man who does this, for you are envying an enemy of God.

Instead, stay focused on righteousness. Seek it with all your heart. In doing so, you will unlock the great and deep mysteries of holiness, justice, peace, faith and love.

Seek His Hand, not hand-outs

18 Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more.
He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry;
When He hears it, He will answer you.
Isaiah 30:18-19 (NKJV)

The Lord covets and desires our relationship. When we come to Him, we must not come just because of the hands-outs, but we must seek His hand in fellowship. Nothing angers the Lord more than when we cast Him aside to seek help from other gods.

1 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD,
“Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin;
2 Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice,
To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh,
And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
3 Therefore the strength of Pharaoh
Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt
Shall be your humiliation.
Isaiah 30:1-3 (NKJV)

Our hope and trust must be on Him, who never shame, humiliate nor confuse those that trust and believe in Him. We ought to wait on the Lord for blessed are all those who wait for Him.

Rational hope

Friends,

We can begin the day with hope and expectation because of only one truth. It is not that the government will come to our aid, or that the job will provide for us. It is not that our intellectual capabilities will prevail, or that we are physically prepared for what lies ahead.

Our hope, expectation and confidence stem from a belief in the power and consistency of the LORD.

Psalm 9:9-10 [NKJV]
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Remember that we who have put our faith in Almighty God trust the only One who will keep all His promises, fulfill every expectation, and who will be victorious over every enemy.

I AM... His Grace is available

13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”
14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.
Exodus 3:13-15 (NKJV)

Moses after his conversation with God was given what seem like an herculean task.... Emancipate the nation of Israel from the hand of the Egyptians. Moses was quick to identify his deficiencies, weaknesses, shortcomings, limitations, and inabilities. But Jehovah God assured him that I AM was available to him, His grace was available to him, and that he needed not fear or shrink back for the tasks ahead.

Apostle Paul was also assured of the God's grace sufficiency in his weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). The grace is available to every child of God who will simply trust Him in this year. Therefore take pleasure in your weakness, for in it I AM is available to strengthen you, His grace is available and ever sufficient.

Informed Resistance

Friends,

We are entering a year of great change. In that kind of setting, there will be plenty of opportunities to make an informed, moral choice. We will be presented with options each and every day. Thousands of decisions will be required of us.

Proverbs 1:10
My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent. [NKJV]

Sinners will entice us, brothers and sisters. We are commanded to resist. Do not consent to the easy path of destruction.
