The just response

Friends,

All actions have consequences. A good parent makes sure that her children receive a just punishment for their disobedience. Why would we expect less than from a a perfect Father?

Amos 3:1-2 [NKJV]
Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:
"You only have I known of all the families of the earth;
Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

The LORD declares that He has a unique relationship with us, His people. It is much deeper and richer than what He was with those whom are not of the elect. We can describe that relationship as Creator and creation: He certainly cares for them and watches over them, but it is not the same. For us, He calls Himself Father. And because of the unique and perfect love that comes from that kind of relationship, He must discipline us differently than the nonbeliever. He must hold us to a greater accountability. It is one of the many, many ways that our Father proves His love to us, His children.

Be encouraged,
Jose
