Good Neighbors Can Be Great

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Luke 10:33-34 [KJV]

How are you as a neighbor? Are you a good neighbor, a great neighbor, just a person who lives on the street or someone that can't wait to move? What would your reaction be to one of your neighbors struggling with some project outside? Think about what you would do and think about how you would feel if you were struggling and they were watching.

Good neighbors say "Hi" and wave when they are going past and they participate in the conversations that occur on the street, but great neighbors know that someone struggling with a project, problem, issue, etc. need some additional help, more than the way as we continue on our ways. The Samaritan was a great neighbor. He took compassion on the person with the problem and decided to step in and help out. He moved from just being a good neighbor that prayed for the victim to a great neighbor that prayed with him while he helped him through the troubled time.

Let's commit to being better neighbors than we are today, without being a busybody. If we see someone in need, let's commit to being a helper instead of a watcher.

Be Encouraged,

Martin
