Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1 Corinthians 5:6-8 (NKJV)
The above scripture exposes and reveals wisdom at its very core. In Apostle Paul's admonition of the Church of the emergence of killer trends in the Church (or what we will call 'micro' trends today), i.e. sexual perversion and immorality and its embrace and permission even in the body of Christ. The little thoughts are likened to the leaven which has real potential of leavening the whole lump. Any thought, micro trend, lifestyle, or anything capable of detaching and defiling our relationship with the Holy Spirit and is not taken captive to the obedience of Christ can decimate and ultimately destroy our soul. But we must keep the faith not with malice and wickedness, but playing our part in our faith walk with sincerity and truth. As the world continues to evolve, these trends evolve too, creatively devised with the goal of stunting Kingdom influence in the world.
Now we know better. Be conscious of the destructive leaven, trends, influence, etc. Just because the world embraces it doesn't make it permissible and/or beneficial for our soul and eternity. Applying the truth you know and have will always set you free.
