Obedience is better

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Hosea 6:6 (NKJV)

The Lord is very clear on this requirement for all His children. Trying to cut corners, bringing down His standard to our carnal level, and trying to justify our violation of simple instructions won't cut it. King Saul trivialized God's instructions to his own peril. He lost his kingdom, not in the battle field of life but to a care-free attitude and disobedience to divine instruction.

For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
1 Samuel 15:23 (NKJV)

Paying attention to God's simple instructions and obeying them to the letter is great wisdom. This wisdom is what we must pursue in all the days of our lives, for to do otherwise is to play the rebel role and incur the consequences of the rebellious one. May we find the strength for obedience to the Holy Spirit in our hearts at all times.

Be encouraged,

Afolabi
