Resist sin

Friends,

No man is immune from the temptation of sin. And perhaps no type of sin causes as much inner confusion as those that presume upon God's mercy, grace and forgiveness. Responding to the Lord as One who is mean, vindictive and resentful is a horrendous act of ignorance. It demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of who God really is, and of His true character. At the same time, acting as though the Lord is a pushover also reveals that the man does not know the One True God. This is not a new issue, as David - the one after God's own heart - wrote about it thousands of years ago:

Psalm 19:13 [NKJV]
Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

The key is repentance. Christ's act on Calvary is completely sufficient to pay the fair price for every one of our sins. Yet it does not give us liberty to sin without regard for what our disobedience means. We cannot ignore the price that Jesus paid on our behalf. To do so would be presumptuous.

And at the same time, we must know - down in the depths of our soul - that we who are believers are forgiven. That our faith has made us fit to be in God's presence forever.

Be encouraged,
Jose
