With the revelation of the son of man comes the manifestation. The seed is sown in corruption and it goes through transformation with the vine coming forth as the source and the branches taking shape in the space of time. Out of the branches comes the manifestation and appearance of the fruits. Many good to the eyes and for edification of the body.

Once we have been revealed by the Lord our Maker, it is time for manifestation, the display of good works and administration of His Kingdom here on earth. In your walk and ways, in your vocation, in your plans, in your home, in all ways, you must manifest to the glory of God.

Put them away

When the LORD returns in glory, all of the unbelievers will work diligently to correct their mistakes. They will scramble for cover. It is the same impulse that drives a teenage boy to hide his computer screen when his mother walks into the room. It is the same impulse that causes a wayward spouse to plead for forgiveness ... after they've been caught in the act.

Isaiah 2:20-21 [NKJV]
In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles and bats,
To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.

In the day of Christ's return, every man will see that he is a sinner - unworthy of being in the presence of pure holiness. But those that have truly recognized this fact will have already repented of this idolatry. They will not have waited until their faith has become sight. For that day will be too late for faith.

Brothers and sisters, if you are still harboring idols in your heart - the idols of work, accomplishment, political success, the perfect family - then put them away today. Do not wait. Do not delay. We are in the last days. The day of repentance is at hand!

We rejoice in the new day that the LORD has made. We do so because He commands it, and because it is an opportunity for us to glorify our God in so many ways. Yet, there are disappointments, hurts and slip-ups. Our Father knows this, understands this, and is there to respond ... perfectly.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,
Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

This is the mission of Christ. He quotes this very prophecy when declaring His presence to the Israelites. And daily He reminds you and me that we are no longer in bondage to bitterness, unforgiveness, deception, and sadness. We have been set free.

Strength flows from Belief

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus reminds us that our love for Him will result in hatred towards us. The world hates Jesus ... watch the ridicule, the charges of intolerance, and the persecution ... and therefore hates the Lord's followers. And it will inevitably strike close to home.

For even His brothers did not believe in Him. [NKJV]

We can find strength and comfort in the knowledge that Jesus experienced this Himself. He was tested and tempted in every manner, and the enemy seeks to hurt the Lord at every opportunity, and in every era.

One of the most common tactics of warfare is to to "divide and conquer". Christ Jesus warned against allowing this tactic to gain traction in the body of believers, and we see its devastating effect on families everyday.

We enable our enemy when we look at each other and see the differences, rather than seeking out what unifies us.

The rich and the poor have this in common,
The LORD is the maker of them all.

Brothers and sisters, do not allow the culture, the politicians, or the preachers to sow strife and divisiveness among us. Seek out the evidence that we share a Father in Heaven who has adopted us, brought us into His Kingdom, and paid the ultimate price for our redemption. Treasure that unity in Jesus.

Hearing the secrets of Heaven

Friends,

Over and over, we see people celebrated and honored, only to learn that they are weak, perverted and immoral. Celebrities are credited with the most noble of motives, even though their actions betray their intentions as self-serving and selfish.

It's easy to get caught up in their celebrity and covet it. It's tempting to compromise our beliefs in order to curry favor with the popular way of thinking.

Do not envy the oppressor,
And choose none of his ways;
For the perverse person is an abomination to the LORD,
But His secret counsel is with the upright.
Proverbs 3:31-32 [NKJV]

Throughout scripture, our Heavenly Father describes His hatred of those who oppress the poor, the widow and the orphan. In short, He reserves great anger for those who use their strength to abuse those who are weaker. Brothers and sisters, do not envy the man who does this, for you are envying an enemy of God.

Instead, stay focused on righteousness. Seek it with all your heart. In doing so, you will unlock the great and deep mysteries of holiness, justice, peace, faith and love.

Seek His Hand, not hand-outs

The Lord covets and desires our relationship. When we come to Him, we must not come just because of the hands-outs, but we must seek His hand in fellowship. Nothing angers the Lord more than when we cast Him aside to seek help from other gods.

1 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD,
“Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin;
2 Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice,

Our hope and trust must be on Him, who never shame, humiliate nor confuse those that trust and believe in Him. We ought to wait on the Lord for blessed are all those who wait for Him.

Rational hope

We can begin the day with hope and expectation because of only one truth. It is not that the government will come to our aid, or that the job will provide for us. It is not that our intellectual capabilities will prevail, or that we are physically prepared for what lies ahead.

Our hope, expectation and confidence stem from a belief in the power and consistency of the LORD.

Psalm 9:9-10 [NKJV]
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Remember that we who have put our faith in Almighty God trust the only One who will keep all His promises, fulfill every expectation, and who will be victorious over every enemy.

I AM... His Grace is available

14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.

Moses after his conversation with God was given what seem like an herculean task.... Emancipate the nation of Israel from the hand of the Egyptians. Moses was quick to identify his deficiencies, weaknesses, shortcomings, limitations, and inabilities. But Jehovah God assured him that I AM was available to him, His grace was available to him, and that he needed not fear or shrink back for the tasks ahead.

Apostle Paul was also assured of the God's grace sufficiency in his weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). The grace is available to every child of God who will simply trust Him in this year. Therefore take pleasure in your weakness, for in it I AM is available to strengthen you, His grace is available and ever sufficient.

Never stop learning

We know that no man, but for Jesus, is perfect. We know that all of us make mistakes, falling short of the glorious and perfect standard set forth for us by a Wise and Omniscient God. These are the facts of the fall. But they are no excuse. We are commanded to learn and grow in the knowledge of the LORD.

Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel [NKJV]

In our world, it seems that the arrogant and conceited are gaining power and authority. But in their arrogance, the intellectual elites have decided that they have all the answers. That they no longer need to humble themselves before the LORD.

We who obey, and who continually seek a deeper intimacy with Christ, will ultimately prevail. We rely on Almighty God for our victory. And when He returns, we who have been humble shall be exalted. And we will throw our crowns at His feet in joyful adoration!

Traditions' Heavy Costs

Why are you doing what you're doing?

Why are you ...
borrowing money to buy things for people who have more than enough?
exhausting yourself to fulfill the inflated expectations of men?

Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

The LORD commands us to worship only the One True God in Spirit and in Truth. Where in that does one find license to engage in pagan traditions? Is it to keep peace at home? Is it to make sure the in-laws don't get angry?

These traditions are becoming ever-more burdensome, and they are only there to satisfy the demands of mortal men and women. We owe it to our God to forsake those traditions. We owe it to Him because He deserves are full and complete devotion.

For good works

The grace of God is promised in abundance for God's children. The grace to abound in all things resulting in sufficient and more than enough resources to fulfill purpose and accomplish goals. The succeeding abundance is for the expansion and increased capacity for good works and the furtherance of heaven's agenda. The priorities and goals of the grace should not be misconstrued or termed as liberty for self indulgence.

His grace must propel us and increase our propensity to do greater good works. The grace must not be misused.

Authentic worship

Friends,

There is a reason that the many religions which man has developed over the centuries are attractive. Their rituals are emotionally stirring. Their beliefs are soothing and self-reinforcing. They bolster our self-esteem and self-reliance. They give us the illusion of being in control.

But they have all been ended by the ultimate sacrifice performed by the Eternal High Priest. No man-made religion can claim to fully atone for every sin. And even those Christians who are determined to revive the old Judaism must acknowledge the truth of the Scriptures:

Hebrews 7:11
Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? [NKJV]

The Levitical priesthood was a critical reminder for God's people of what He had done - and is doing - for them throughout history. But there is no longer a need for that reminder, for Christ is the ultimate work of Almighty God. He is the fulfillment of what the Father promised (expressed through the workings of the Levitical priesthood).

We can apply this to every religion, including those that have no historical relationship with Judaism. They are all attempts to achieve the perfection that Almighty God demands. And every religion has conjured up a way to make up for the inevitable shortfall in that quest for perfection. But again, only Christ is effective in doing so.

Let us not denigrate the work of Jesus by reverting to rituals and ceremonial rites. Worship Him in spirit and truth.

Knowing the Agenda

Every organization thrive on its essense of existence. The reason and goal of its existence. This drives the day to day operations and survival instincts of the organization. So with individuals, we ought to be driven by some goals, mission and purpose. Our Lord was not fuzzy about His goal. His agenda was made known in Isaiah even before He was born and was further confirmed in the gospels.

17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,Because He has anointed Me

To preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Governing all nations

We look forward to the day when the worldly, flawed governments of the world fall. In their place will rise a perfect and perfectly good King.

Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy!
For You shall judge the people righteously,
And govern the nations on earth. Selah [NKJV]

When the LORD judges the people, He will do so according to His law and will. There will be no injustice. There will be no corruption. There will be no tyranny.

We cannot bring this about through our own efforts. Our part is to submit to lawful authority and to pray for the coming of the Lord. In that day, there will be great rejoicing! For the LORD will judge us righteously!

Evidence of righteousness

Let your heart be governed by a simple instruction:

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,

Do not over-complicate this with burdensome rules, emotion-filled rituals, or distracting traditions. Seek righteousness and demonstrate it with every word, thought and action. Such a sacrifice will be opposed by the enemy. It is evidence of a heart that trusts in the LORD. And it will shout the good news of salvation and victory!

Hallmarks of a blessed life

Friends,

We still cling to a odd, temporal notion of what it means to be blessed. We see a big house, a nice car, a healthy family, or success in business and call that man blessed. We see a struggling family, or a disruptive illness, and choose not to see in any blessing in that.

But contrast that view with what God says about blessings:

Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.
Psalm 84:5-7 [NKJV]

The whole basis of whether a man is "blessed" or not has nothing to do with present-day circumstances. Rather it has everything to do with the eternal condition of the heart.
Does the heart draw its strength from the LORD?
Is the desire focused on moving through this world and to the LORD?
Are the eyes set on things above?

These, brothers and sisters, are the hallmarks of a blessed man. It is worth examining our hearts today for evidence of their presence.

Renewal necessary

The Lord is available to them that can seek and depend on Him. Experience shows that even in our elements, when we are highest in our energy levels, it is not impossible to be dissipated within minutes, growing weary and feeble when things don't go the way we expect. The strong is weakened, slumber and slack reigns forth and our stamina is compromised and rendered ineffective.

The physical may sometimes fail, even with the best of nutrients for the body. These doesn't usually measure up, not even the material acquisitions, social status and all the appellations of life. At this point, we know that only waiting on Him is the answer.

Have you grown weary, tired and exhausted in your usual routine of life? Its time to wait on Him for renewal and refreshing.

The only opinion that matters

Friends,

There is a true word of God. But because it's not always what we want to hear, we might - in a time of weakness - seek out a second opinion. Or a third. We do this when we are looking to justify sin and rationalize evil. Not one of us is immune.

It may seem fairly obvious, but it's worth repeating: God is not amused or pleased by this:

Her heads judge for a bribe,
Her priests teach for pay,
And her prophets divine for money.
Yet they lean on the LORD, and say,

"Is not the LORD among us?
No harm can come upon us."

Therefore because of you
Zion shall be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And the mountain of the temple
Like the bare hills of the forest.
Micah 3:11-12, NKJV

The men and women who bribe their pastors to condone their sin are in for a rude awakening. You ask how a pastor could be bribed? It's easy, and shameful. But a big donation for that new program or building fund. It takes two, of course ... that pastor must be willing to value the contributions (tithes and otherwise) more than obedience to Christ. And of course that pastor is headed for disaster, as well.

And after all of that, everyone involved expects ... even demands ... that the LORD smile and bless and approve of such abominable behavior!

Rather than belabor the point, let's go to the solution.

As true believers, we have an obligation and a freedom to obey Christ Jesus. We are now able to hear His word and know His voice. Do not waste that gift by foolishly and sinfully looking for ways to disobey Him. Do not ask a brother to condone sin. Do not ask a sister to rationalize and justify sin.

Instead, stop the sin. Heed the voice of Christ!

One scratches his head and ponders in the face of daily challenges of life. Can I really stand up and uphold my faith and belief in this hostile and negative environment. It has even become a thing of ridicule to even be seen as a believer... so in the eyes of the world. But we need not bother, neither should we panic over the ferocious and aggressive threats and influences of the world. The matter is simple and settled. Refrain from panic, worry and fright mode, but rather believe in God and His son, Jesus Christ.

18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

The antidote for hate

Friends,

It seems that hatred and accusations of hatred are everywhere. If two disagree, each accuses the other of hate. If a man stands up for his beliefs and refuses to compromise his faith, then he is accused of hatred.

It boils down to the discomfort some feel when their sinful behavior is called what it is: sin. The sinful ones react harshly, angrily, and sometimes violently. Fortunately, we have a defender:

Psalm 9:13
Have mercy on me, O LORD!
Consider my trouble from those who hate me,
You who lift me up from the gates of death, [NKJV]

Praying for justice is neither hateful nor sinful. Seeking the wisdom of the One who is truly in a position to render a judgment? This is a loving and humble act. We who truly follow Christ do not usurp His authority. We call upon it and depend on it. And we rejoice in the judgments of a perfectly good and sovereign King.

For the will of God

There is no immunity for us on the insatiable demands and aggression of the carnal man, rather we must mortify him, arrest him and bring him to submission to the obedience of the Lord and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Our Lord Himself had to subject the flesh with the same mindset to terminate the regime and connection with sin and the carnal man. Until this is done, the natural connection to the desire and lusts of the flesh will remain.

We must submit our will to the Holy Spirit who in turn will empower us to overcome and connect 'supernaturally' to the will of God for our lives. This connection to the things of the Kingdom is not natural, but supernatural through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit. If we must live, let us live for the will of God and not the lusts and destructive agenda of the flesh.

With so much competing for attention, it is imperative that we be reminded that the Lord is speaking to us. And we He does, it is critical that we listen, hear and obey.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; [NKJV]

It's far too easy to be distracted, to allow the voice of God to be drowned out. No one is immune from this. So be purposeful and intentional about hearing the Lord's word, seeking out His wisdom, and demonstrating your devotion to the Savior.

About Him

What is the son of man that you O Lord are mindful of him. It is not just the works of our hands that provides for us but the grace and divine increase that comes from God. While it is important that we work and be diligent in nurturing and watering of the works of our hands, the unseen part is where divine favor, mercy, grace and increase comes upon that which we have planted and watered.

So while our part and role cannot be discounted, we must work diligently while it is day before the night comes when no one can work. Therefore its no really about us but Him who gives increase and is forever faithful.

Foolish pride

It is a known truth that God resists the prideful but gives grace to the humble. The requirements and deliverable for the battle and contest at Mount Carmel was read aloud and the people (the jury in this case) give a unanimous and resounding agreement on the deliverable as fair, simple and ok. Fire was to consume the contents of the altar. Deep inside the hearts of the prophets of Baal, they would have been struggling inside of them that this is a task that is beyond what they can perform. How can we bamboozle the people? shall we use the scare tactics or fear factor? Shall we retreat and surrender? No way! that will be a sign of weakness and render us irrelevant to the people we have held captives for generations.... on and on they seem to be struggling in their hearts. The logical conclusion was to surrender and acknowledge the God of Heaven and Earth as the one and only legitimate God for all times and eternity, but pride never gives up in the life of the perishing soul. They proceeded to battle to their ultimate peril.

Does pride have a place in your life? Do you take on challenges on your own without surrendering them to God? Pride usually precedes a big fall, but the humble is smart in his/her doings by acknowledging and releasing their all to God.

Meant to cause a change

the LORD uses a remarkable event to demonstrate that His hand is upon His servant Daniel. He endows Daniel with the wisdom to accurately interpret King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, even though the king refuses to describe it to him. Daniel proclaims the reason behind this miracle to the king's court:

But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

The miracle was for the king. And sadly, the king never acknowledges that the LORD is truly the Lord. He never repents of his idolatry and paganism. And he never recognizes his sinfulness or his need for redemption.

This is the danger we are faced with ... we have seen the handiwork of God but we do not change our hearts.

Sisters and brothers, do not let the mighty works of Christ be in vain. You have experienced His blessing and His divine disruptions. They are meant to change your heart.

A true light for all mankind

We are as different from the world as Light is different from Darkness. There is no comparison. For light is so very much more than the absence of darkness. And in that great difference is a tremendous opportunity.

As believers, we are more than just a light for a dark and fallen world. We are the very essence of light and illumination and revelation. For as the sun reveals what was hidden during the night, so our words and actions - when they are in obedience to Christ - reveal the sin and decay that is hidden by the world. The world believes that it is okay. The unbelievers are convinced that they have either me the standard of righteousness or that no such standard exists. We know differently, and our walk must exemplify that knowledge.

When it does, we are a living, breathing representation of the Good News of Christ. Don't miss this opportunity! Walk as a child of light.

Attention & Focus

Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

It was the penultimate moment. There was going to be a separation between these two brothers that have walked with each other closely. Elijah was to be taken away while leaving Elisha behind. Elijah asked to be excused, he asked for some privacy and some personal moments. Elisha wouldn't have any of that. He understood the urgency and criticality of the time at hand. The present for him held so much stake for tomorrow, hence he refused to slumber and sleep on the moment.

Our daily encounter ought to remind us of the swift transition, hence the need to seize the moment at all times. A short attention span to the things of the Kingdom can be perilous, lets keep the focus on Him at all times.

A purposed heart

It's the rare person who makes a conscious decision to sin. Certainly, a believer whose profession is true would never willfully choose to sin. We might have succumbed to temptation or sinned out of ignorance, but that is a different heart than one who simply doesn't care.

To grow further, though, requires a more decisive stance:

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Daniel's life is characterized by a a daily expression of courageous obedience. This was no accident. His obedience was active, not passive. He made a decision to obey. He purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.

What is your purpose today? Is it to get through the day? Is it to be get everything done on the list? Have you purposed to obey and not to be defiled? Have you purposed to heed the voice of the Lord?

It is perhaps the most important agreement you can make!

A knowledgable love

A child loves innocently. It is all heart ... no head. There is no real thinking about their love, they just do it. It is beautiful and precious and wonderful.

Yet there is something missing, isn't there? An adult's love is richer, more complex and more substantive. Yes, there is an emotional component, but it is strengthened by a thoughtful, even rational component. In its full expression, love is willful, possessing the benefit of judgment, maturity, experience and balance.

Philippians 1:9 [NKJV]
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment

In this verse, Paul is encouraging Christians to grow in love. It is evidence that we are becoming more Christ-like.

Jesus loved the Father.
His love was deep and genuine at every level.

He certainly had affection for the Father. He had a childlike adoration of His Father. He had a deep intimacy with the Father, too. He had a mature companionship with the Father. He had an unshakable friendship with the Father.

These are not the attributes of a shallow, purely emotional love. Rather these are the characteristics of a mature and enduring and reasoned love. Such a love is impossible without a knowledge of the beloved.

The question today is this. How well do you know the LORD?
Not how much do you know about Him, or how long have you known Him.

Sowing

The Sower here was someone who was invested in his/her future. One with the a fervent expectation for an expected end and bountiful outcome. He was liberal in his sowing.The idea was he sowed generously wherever he went. Even though some fell on stony ground where it was rejected, some on thorny and hostile ground where the seed was choked and some on good ground that brought forth an incredible ROI (return on investment).

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,...
2 Corinthians 9:10 (NKJV)

Sowing is done in the physical, but the multiplication and increase is divine. It is in our interest to sow.

How you know

Dramatic and spectacular events happen the world over, and in our time - more than ever - we can see them unfold before our very eyes. Some are thrilling, others terrifying. But often, their impact is far removed from our daily lives.

Even though they seem more mundane, the daily occurrences that shape our lives are no less compelling and impactful. We must discern the source of these events if we are to know how to respond.

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

What is the fruit of a traffic jam? Is it frustration, anger and hatred? Then the proper response is pray against those spirits, and to release patience and contemplation.
What is the fruit of an overcooked meal? Is it disappointment and resentment? We know that our Lord neither disappoints nor harbors resentment ... so we know that it is part of an attack. So we pray against disappointment and resentment; and we pray for contentment, forgiveness and grace.

The examples are endless. And surely you can see this applied in your life. Do this today, and witness the healing and strengthening of the Holy Spirit.

Everyday we are called to battle. And, unfortunately, too many ignore this call. Perhaps they believe that the LORD does not notice. But He does.

When you and I take it upon ourselves to "pick our battles", we are in fact usurping the authority of Almighty God. Why would we think that's a good idea?

Today, brothers and sisters, we are engaged in a spiritual war ... not with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers. Our great weapons are the very Word of God and the fervent, constant prayers of the faithful.

Connection with Jehovah God requires His grace, mercies and kindness for a steady signal void of interference and distortions from the elements and legitimate concerns and anxieties of life. A self re-evaluation of our thoughts, concerns and anxieties isn't out of order to check and gauge our alignment with His will for us.

The way and path of everlasting we must not stray away from. One wrong step can be easily corrected, but many steps will only detach us and cut us off from the main source, the throne of grace and mercy. To obey this passage is to imitate Christ Jesus and, in so doing, bring great joy to our Heavenly Father.

Courage in the face of the enemy

As believers, we are under constant attack from the enemies of God. Satan and his host of fallen angels seeks to destroy His followers at every turn. The flesh is ever-ready to succumb to temptation. And the world daily expresses its hatred of Christ and His people.

We are truly faced with a ruthless and persistent enemy. And yet we can be brave.

Psalm 3:5-6
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.

We can sleep peacefully, knowing that the LORD sustains us with the same vigor and endurance that He sustained David, the writer of these verses. No matter who was aligned themselves against God's Kingdom, we can face them. The Lord shall be victorious. And so shall we!

God's Presence

King David got the revelation on how to overcome the strong urge and desires that moves us in the opposite direction with our Maker.

A walk of vigilance

We have been called to a life of holiness. It is a life that expresses the gratitude and respect that we should have for the LORD, given what He has done for us. It is a life that stands in stark contrast to the life of those who refuse Jesus' call.

It is also a life that requires great vigilance. If we allow ourselves to devalue obedience, we will eventually only value disobedience. If we give ourselves permission to indulge in a trivial sin, we will be on the path to pursuing sin with no regard to the call of holiness.

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk ... who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

There comes a point in a man's life that he no longer fears doing evil. We see it as children make the transition from being afraid of getting caught to boldly, brashly and publicly being teenage miscreants.

We are reminded in this passage to examine our walk daily. To vigorously guard our hearts against the plot of the evil one.To actively repent and pursue a life of holiness.

It is appropriate that we dress-up for the right situation and occasion always. It will be out of place to don the best corporate suit, shirt, tie and shoes to match for a football battle on a field of play. With no protection to the body and the right gear, a wrongly dressed person is just a disaster waiting to happen. Our new man requires this new outfit for effective engagement in our daily encounters and interaction with the world. From the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes for the feet that spread peace and good news, the shield of faith, helmet of salvation to the sword of the spirit, the new man is well equipped to engage the world and dominate according to God's will for our lives.

Identity Crisis?

The Almighty God had a 'done deal' for the children of Israel. The Land was already packaged for them, only waiting to be delivered. Prior to their possessing the land, God wanted them to get a glimpse of that which has been set aside for them. Unfortunately there was a crisis of identity with some of the men that were selected to spy this land. They failed to see themselves as God saw them... How unfortunate!! They exhibited a grasshopper mentality, a stunted and faithless stature and perspective of themselves.

If God says it, then He will do it. If He declares anything about you, it is a done deal, ours is just to believe His word and declarations. We must know who we are in Him and operate in such mindset at all times.

The 3 Hebrews knew the fatal consequences of their choices in light of the king's fury, yet they did not budge. Some believers refuse to engage in certain types of ministries. They say that they are not "gifted in that way." I confess that I have done the same. I am privileged to be married to a true prophet of the Lord. And through her words, this particular weakness was exposed.

Sisters and brothers, in various seasons of life, we are called to do certain things, and called not to do others. But to say that we lack a particular gift is to say that Christ's gifts are limited, finite, and not quite enough to fulfill the Father's promises.

This simply untrue.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

The strategies of the enemy are fairly predictable. He attacks when we are tired and weak. He distracts with busy-ness. He whispers (and shouts) lie after lie. But most insidiously, he separates believers from one another.

Proverbs 18:1

It is the same tactic used by predators on the hunt for their meal. Separate one from the herd and it cannot defend itself.

The enemy separates us from our fellowship, so that we are less accountable.
The enemy separates us from the Word, so that we struggle to know our Master's voice.

It is why we are commanded not forsake the fellowship of believers. It is not a suggestion. It is not a helpful hint. It is declared forcefully in God's word.

If you are under attack by the world, the flesh or the devil ... then examine your life. Are you in fellowship? Are you in corporate prayer? Are you seeking out the company of believers?

This is Jesus, the Lamb of God, the King of all kings ... Announcing for all to hear why He stepped off of His throne to walk this earth. It was not to live for Himself or to bask in the comfort of His deity. It was to take action and to live out His mission with zeal and passion.

If we are being formed into His image, then our mission and purpose is the same. We are not saved to live for ourselves or to simply do what is right in our own eyes. We are not saved to smugly continue a life of sin.

No.

We are saved to minister with energy and enthusiasm in whatever calling God has for us each day.

Ezra had boldly proclaimed to the king that he had a reliable and responsive God, One who answers prayers. Ezra acknowledged that they lived in perilous times surrounded by vicious and hostile adversaries on all sides. As he embarked on his trip with the heads of families and servants of the temple, he didn't rely or trust in the king's chariots and horses, but trusted in the protection and direction Heaven provided and offered. He called for a fast and prayer. They did and God answered their prayer.

What is it you are trusting God for? Call a fast and prayer gathering with the body of believers. The Lord still answers prayers.

Throughout life, there are events and occurrences that will cause worry or strife. As believers in Christ, we have to decide how we are going to react to those events. We could be so overcome that we completely retreat to inaction, or we could pretend that nothing bothers us at all no matter how grievous. Most of us land somewhere between those two places. We know or at least we should that we have an advocate in Christ that will ensure that no matter what happens in our life, we can survive and even thrive. He looks at our overall circumstances instead of just the immediate situation to establish our next steps.

We must begin to rely on Christ and His Directions during all times in our lives. Not just the bad, but the good and the choices that we must make. If we cast our cares on Him, He will care for us. Here is the rest of that thought.

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: I Peter 5:8-9 [KJV]

The word is clear, the performer controls the mood, suspense, expectation and reaction of the audience and not vice versa. The world must look to the believer for clues, lifestyle, what works and what doesn't, perspective to uncommon situations and circumstances and life in general. It is unfortunate for a believer to now voluntarily relinquish his/her role as the seasoner to a clueless world. We are the light of the world carrying heavens wattage and power within that is meant to ignite and light the world. Is our life lighting the world? Is it bringing illumination to the dark issues of the world?

We have a unique opportunity to showcase the God in us, for the power to bring forth clarity, illumination, and shine to the world is within. We must perfect this so our Father in heaven may be glorified.

If something was done before your birth, how can it be the result of your actions? If we believe these scriptures, then we must set aside any belief that our salvation is due to any work on our part.

The message though deployed, transmitted and delivered via different means, media and messengers still remains the same, potent, life-altering, generational-changing tool and embodiment which is God in word form. The tide against the message may be strong, discouraging and demoralizing. Instead we must see the harvest for the Kingdom as plentiful begging for harvesting and reaping.

We must therefore not grow tired, discouraged, weary and overwhelmed by the odds, but rejoice in the possibilities and potential of increasing the Kingdom, for this is His will for us in Christ Jesus.

That should not come to the believer as a surprise, it is to be expected and we must overcome this onslaught with love, patience and understanding. Such a feat isn't conceivable and possible with flesh and blood but only the Spirit can empower the mortal man to carry this out.

What ever policies, laws, orders, edicts, rules, etc is enacted by the world and its bodies, the timeless truths etched in our heart must remain unchanged. In our heart, the truth that sets free will and must forever reign. The truth is the power of God that perfects all things.

He has set his own apart

The LORD promises something remarkable to those who are godly. He promises that we will be treated as a distinct and unique group of people. We will not experience the same things as those who are not godly.

Sometimes, this means that we will be subject to higher standard, and therefore to more severe consequences for our disobedience.

At most times, though, this means that will experience great blessings while the world explodes around us. We will hear the blasts, and feel the percussion. But while the ungodly see only destruction, we will be at peace, seeing eternity.

We are truly set apart. He listens specifically for the voice of His people, just as those who are truly His know the voice of Almighty God.

Doing Life Together

Two is better than one is a saying that we have heard all our lives. Working together as a team makes the work go faster and seem easier. When we attempt to do life alone, we can get caught up in how we can make everything happen for us. As we all have learned, that is truly not the case. We cannot make anything happen and we often fall victim to circumstance. We all have to remember that we must have at least one partner in life and that is Christ. Once we pair up with Him, He can lead us to other partners, friends and teammates. I truly believe that as Christ helps us through the hard times, He also brings people along side us to keep us strong and inspire us to keep going. I am reminded of a verse from Ecclesiates 4.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Ecclesiates 4:9 [KJV]

Nonetheless, being the butt of jokes, being ridiculed and shouted down, and being scrutinized for every slip-up is all part of the suffering which comes being part of the Body of Christ.

We are admonished to expect this treatment. It is evidence that the world is at war with Christ, just as our Lord told us it would be. We can look forward to His victory and ours.

To be an overcomer, the recipe is simple, you only need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He is what He says He is. To all the challenges and dramas that life can throw at us, we have the overcomer spirit to take us over the top. Walk your faith and let God play His role.

Even when the freethinkers, sinners and 'anything goes' folks flourish, it must not rock our resolve for righteous living, but our daily walk must remain in the path and fear of the Lord.

The work that must be done

Each man has a job and a calling. And each man is called upon, at times, to do work outside of that calling.

Nehemiah 3:32
And between the upper room at the corner, as far as the Sheep Gate, the goldsmiths and the merchants made repairs. [NKJV]

Have you been asked to do something for your fellowship that is outside of your "official capacity" ... whatever that might be? Have you resisted the work simply because you believe that it does not fall within your designated role?

The goldsmiths and the merchants (and in other verses, the priests and the nobles) were all called upon to make repairs to the walls of Jerusalem. It did not matter what their job was or what their title was. The work needed to be done. Those that heard and obeyed were blessed to participate in what God was doing.

We have the same opportunities today. The work often lacks prestige. But it does not lack the blessing of Almighty God.

We do not often discuss the dark side of holidays. Today, we'll hear all manner of "Father's Day" greetings from television personalities, celebrities, politicians, preachers, friends and perhaps even from colleagues.

But sometimes, those words only serve to remind us of difficult times relating to and with our father. Indeed, no one can wound a boy or girl like their father. Those wounds cut deep and - for some might - never heal.

What I have learned over these years is that the affirmation and unconditional love that I seek is only available through my Father in heaven.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Friends, the love you so desperately desire can be found... but only through Christ. When you come to be adopted in the family of God, you are given the gift of a Father who knows & provides for your every need. He gives Himself wholly and unreservedly, and can truly heal the wounds and the hurt.

Never forget, brothers and sisters, that the foundation of this body is Christ. It is not a pastor on TV or in the pulpit of the biggest church in town. It is not the praise band or the most out-spoken member of the congregation.

When we forget that the foundation of the whole church is Jesus, we splinter, argue, divide, and are easily conquered.

When we remember that Christ is our cornerstone and source, we are more than conquerors.

Being formed in our Adamic nature, a naturally rebellious DNA, it is easy and convenient to slide back into sin and iniquity. The enemy within whispers constantly.... you need a break, you are human, you can't, etc. All the lies of discouragement and deceit. These antics and episodes of the past is what we must put behind daily, but pressing forward to the mark of perfection, pursuing all righteousness and the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus.

This is a good goal and mission statement. Keep pressing towards the goal set forth in the above scripture. With our eyes set on the prize, we will easily identify the distractions of life and see them for what just they are. Keep pressing and

There is an ongoing search within the heart of every person. Some people are aware of this search. Others are not. But regardless of whether we acknowledge this quest, it is part of who we are. It is a desire ... a deep longing ... for peace. Some men chase it through "self-awareness" while other expect to find it in conquest. There are as many attempts as there are people. And all of them will lead to the same dead-end.

There is only one correct path.

Ephesians 2:4 [NKJV]
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

There is only correct path, because there is really only one destination that is truly peaceful -- full of peace. Not all roads lead to it. Only the way of Christ leads to Christ. He is our peace.

Promises of obedience

Genesis 27:1
Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. [NKJV]

When the Lord called us into His Kingdom, the invitation came with a requirement. That requirement was that we are no longer to be bound and tied to the worldly and carnal priorities. We must no longer seek comfort, strength, love, peace and fulfillment from the world. Rather we are seek those things from the only One who can truly provide them unconditionally and unfailingly ... Christ.

That is why, so many thousands of years ago, Isaac admonished Jacob not seek a wife from the Canaanites. Over and over, the LORD commanded Israel to refrain from making covenants, and treaties with the various people of Canaan. He knew that the Canaanites would draw His people away from Him.

We are faced with the same challenge and temptations. When we form deep relationships with the things of this world, we invite them to be a wedge between us and our Father. And that is why we, too, are admonished not to do so. If we obey this command, we enjoy the promises that were made to our forefather Jacob.

The existence of life hinges on a source of livelihood. Through this source flows all the means of life, nourishment, and energy needed to blossom and flourish. To be disconnected from a renewal or replenishment source only prescribes extinction in a matter of time. The power of connection, 'the right connection' is a prerequisite and necessary condition for fulfilling purpose and destiny. The knowledge of this simple truth can release and set us forth to a life of fulfillment.

Are you connected to the Creator and Maker? Are you connected to a vibrant body of believers? These connections are crucial for reaching our full potential and fulfillment. Never go it alone, remain connected to the Vine and you will never risk extinction or withering and decaying without trace.

Right option

The strategy and end game of the adversary is the same. No matter how beneficial and attractive the package of the adversary is, his goal is to steal (steal what's not theirs), kill (kill the potential and abilities of God's talent in man) and destroy (destroy the fruits, and symbols of faith, life). We must not be ignorant of the whims and caprices of our common foe. We must resist him and reject his options for a better one.

The Lord came that we may have life in abundance. Why settle for the passing pleasures that our temporary with hidden destruction.

Why he raised us

Friends,

The Lord does nothing in vain. Everything He does has a purpose.

So why, then, did He raise us up to eternal life?
Why bestow such an incomprehensible gift on creatures who have betrayed and disobeyed Him?

The answers, brothers and sisters, is found here:

The simplistic answer is that Almighty God has done a wondrous work. He wants all of creation to know it.

You and I are His prized possession ... His trophy. He chose us and wants there to be no mistake about it. And He wants all to know that this gift's value is beyond measure.
